Sol y Lomas is one of the first planned communities in Santa Fe, NM. It was developed by the Stamm Development Company. Allen Stamm built several thousand homes in and around Santa Fe from 1939 to 1980. The typical style of architecture is single story, frame and stucco in the Pueblo style which includes kiva-style fireplaces, pine vigas, and hardwood floors.

Some of the best known Stamm neighborhoods include Casa Solana, Casa Alegre, and Casa Linda. Sol y Lomas was established in the mid-sixties, and while many of the homes retain the original character, significant updates and remodeling have also occurred.

Sol y Lomas, situated off Old Pecos Trail, is unique in that the 154 homes are on one-acre lots. This, combined with high desert vegetation such as piñon pines, juniper and cacti, enhances the special semi-rural feeling of the community. Arroyo Chamisa separates the two sides of Sol y Lomas, providing a natural greenbelt and giving residents a quiet walking trail when the arroyo is dry, which is most of the time! While the neighborhood has few paved streets and no sidewalks or gutters, residents make recreational use of the roads for walking, running and bicycling. The absence of street lights allows for the enjoyment of star-studded dark skies.
